It's... an MAV!
In this shot, taken from computer animation video yesterday, Nov 21, and released by the U.S. Air Force, shows the next generation of drones, called Micro Aerial Vehicles, or MAVs. The MAVs could be as tiny as bumblebees and capable of flying undetected into buildings, where they could photograph, record, and even attack insurgents and terrorists. U.S. military engineers are trying to design flying robots disguised as insects that could one day spy on enemies and conduct dangerous missions without risking lives.
Although there are currently few MAVs, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has recently announced a program to develop even smaller Nano Air Vehicles (NAVs) with a wingspan of 7.5 centimetres (three inches) or less.
The bad thing about this is, if this new techie falls into the hands of the wrong people, it is devastating!

Those little robotics are pretty cool and kind of scary all at the same time. It is amazing that technology has advanced so greatly that robots can be the size of insects! If people would only use them for the good of mankind that would be ideal but we both know there are evil people in this world who would use them for their own gains given the chance. That's what makes them so scary! Bumblebees are very tiny creatures and are quite amazing on their own! To think litte man made critters may some day being flying around unbeknownst to the masses is quite an acomplishment of man himself! I'm a bit confused though. Your entry talks first about MAVs and that they may be as small as a bumblebee and then you talk also about NAVs which are to be even smaller than MAVs. As I said bumblebees are tiny creatures. I think a NAV would qualify to be described as small as a bumblebee perhaps but MAVs would be much larger than a bumblebee. I measured the bumblebee in my insect collection and it is just under an inch (less than 2 centimeters). That would be its wingspan. Just an observation. Thanks for pointing out this technology to me. It is quite fascinating. I wasn't aware of it till now.
I enjoyed the movie trailer as well.
